The Los Angeles Kings are on the road as they travel to take on the Montreal Canadiens Thursday night. Los Angeles comes in off a 4-3 overtime win on the road over the Blue Jackets Tuesday night in their previous contest. Montreal downed Seattle 4-2 at home Tuesday night in their previous contest. Los Angeles needed a big third period and overtime to rally past the Blue Jackets Tuesday night to run their road record to 10-0-0 on the season. The Kings improved to 15-4-3 on the season and stood tied for second in the Pacific Division, four points behind Vegas for the top spot. Los Angeles stands 2nd in the league in goals per game as they score an average of 3.86 goals a night this season. The Kings are 2nd in goals against by allowing an average of 2.32 goals per contest. Los Angeles is 18th in the league in power play success as they convert 19.2% of their chances with the man advantage this season. The Kings are solid in the penalty killing department as they are 3rd in the league in penalty killing as they successfully navigated 88.4% of their shorthanded situations.

Against Columbus, Los Angeles stormed back from a three-goal deficit in the third period to skate away with the overtime victory on the road. The Kings saw the shots even at nine in the opening period but trailed 1-0 on the scoreboard at the first intermission. In the second period, Los Angeles held a 14-13 shot advantage but was outscored 2-0 to trail 3-0 after 40 minutes of play. The third period saw the Kings outshoot the Blue Jackets 15-7 and outscore them 3-0 to tie the game and force overtime. Phillip Danault got Los Angeles on the board just 23 seconds into the stanza with his fifth goal of the season off assists from Matt Roy and Trevor Moore. Danault tallied his second of the night and his sixth goal of the year at 5:08 off assists from Vladislav Gavrikov and Kevin Fiala to make it a 3-2 game. Arthur Kaliyev netted the equalizer with his sixth goal of the season at 6:38 off assists from Jaret Anderson-Dolan and Gavrikov. In the extra session, the Kings had the lone shot of the period and it found the back of the net for the winner. Drew Doughty gave the Kings the victory with his sixth goal of the year 33 seconds into the extra session off assists from Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe. Pheonix Copley made 26 saves for the Kings, who held a 39-29 shot advantage, in the victory. Cam Talbot is expected to get the start in goal for Los Angeles here.
