Los Angeles Kings (30-18-7) vs. Anaheim Ducks (17-32-6)

The 2022-23 NHL season goes on Friday, February 17, with the Los Angeles Kings facing off against the Anaheim Ducks in the Pacific Division showdown at Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and the puck drop is set for 9:00 PM ET.

Los Angeles and Anaheim continue their three-game regular-season series, and the Kings open as surefire -228 moneyline favorites with a total of 6.5 goals. Back in December, LA beat Anaheim 4-1 as a -270 home fave.

After stopping their two-game slide with a 6-0 dismantling of the Pittsburgh Penguins last weekend, the Los Angeles Kings beat the Buffalo Sabres 5-2 as -135 home favorites this past Monday. The Kings scored four straight goals in the second period against the Sabres, and Viktor Arvidsson made it 5-0 early in the third before Buffalo scored a couple of consolation goals.

“When the five guys jump over the boards, whether it's Danault's unit or Kopitar's unit, you have a sense that you have a chance,” Kings coach Todd McLellan said. “Our penalty kill is starting to get to that point where when it jumps over the boards, you're not holding your breath as much.”

Pheonix Copley has guarded the cage in the previous three games. He had 25 saves in that 6-0 blanking of Pittsburgh and yielded a couple of goals on 29 shots against Buffalo. Copley is now 17-3-1 with a 2.74 GAA and .903 save percentage in 2022-23, while Jonathan Quick is 8-12-4 with a 3.41 GAA and .881 save percentage.

The Kings haven’t announced who’ll patrol the crease at Honda Center on Friday night. LA ranks 22nd in the NHL in goals against (3.35 per game) and 13th in goals for (3.27).
