Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Mets Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-31-2022

The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets square off in the second game of their three-game set in Queens on Tuesday night. The Dodgers come in with the best record in all of baseball while the Mets have the second best record in the NL and are battling with Houston for the second-best record in baseball overall. On the mound Tuesday night in this potential National League Championship Series preview will be Dodger left-hander Tyler Anderson (13-2, 2.69) taking on Mets' ace Jacob deGrom (3-1, 2.15). First pitch is scheduled for 7:10pm EST.

The Los Angeles Dodgers just keep rolling along as the season heads into September. They have the best record in baseball and have the best home and road splits in all of baseball. LA came into this series after traveling to Miami over the weekend and taking three out of four games, just missing a sweep with a 2-1 loss on Saturday thanks to a Sandy Alcantara complete-game masterpiece. On Monday, the Dodgers bounced back with a 3-2 win in 10-innings. On Tuesday night, in the opener of this star-studded series, the Dodgers used five pitchers to hold the Mets lineup at bay and squeeze out a 4-3 win. Gavin Lux went 2-for-4 on the night and his infield RBI single in the 7th provided the winning margin.

The Dodgers have received some blows to their pitching staff in recent weeks. First, the team learned that Walker Buehler would be undergoing Tommy John surgery, likely meaning he will miss most of next season as well. Just this week, the team announced that 16-game winner Tony Gonsolin will miss at least two weeks with a forearm strain. Despite this, the Dodgers seemingly keep on rolling along. On the mound on Wednesday will be lefty Tyler Anderson. In his last five games, Anderson is 1-1 with a 1.78 ERA. He is 1-0 against the Mets this season, allowing three hits in six scoreless innings in LA.
