Los Angeles bounced back from a loss Friday to win for the seventh time in eight games in a low-scoring matchup with San Diego Saturday. The Dodgers entered Sunday 20-14 on the season and they held a half-game lead on the Diamondbacks for the top spot in the NL West. On Saturday, Los Angeles finished with only three hits with no player having more than one but it proved to be enough to earn a victory. Chris Taylor hit a two-run homer, his sixth of the season, in the fourth inning, and that proved to be enough offense to deliver the win. Dustin May (4-1) earned the win with six scoreless innings, allowing three hits with one walk and six strikeouts. Evan Phillips worked a scoreless ninth, allowing no hits with one walk and three strikeouts, to earn his fourth save.

Tony Gonsolin is expected to take the mound for the Dodgers here as he makes his third start of the season in this contest. He comes in w ith no record, a 3.38 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, five walks and four strikeouts over eight innings of work. Gonsolin didn’t factor in the decision in his last start, which came last Monday at home against the Phillies. He threw 4.2 innings, allowing three runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts in a game where the Dodgers rolled to a 13-4 victory. Gonsolin makes his third career start against the Brewers in this contest. He is 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA, a 0.667 WHIP, three walks and 11 strikeouts over 12 innings of work this season. Gonsolin earned the win in his lone career start at American Family Field, which came on August 17, 2022. He threw seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits with one walk and eight strikeouts in a game the Dodgers went on to win 2-1.
