Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 7-29-2022

The Rocky Horror Show at Coors Field will serve as the backdrop for another head-to-head meeting between the Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday. Bad things have typically happened to the Dodgers this season in games at Colorado, but they were able to put the home team away early and in dominant fashion in Thursday’s opener.

It’ll be interesting to see if that remains the case against a team that plays like a juggernaut sporadically in their home building. Julio Urias gets the starting nod at pitcher for the Dodgers against Rockies’ righty Chad Kuhl.

It’s the second-half of the season, and the Dodgers obviously aren’t playing around.

For context, just look at how they handled their business in their return to Coors Field on Thursday night. They’ve lost both three-game meetings they’ve had in Colorado this season. Perhaps the third time will be the charm in their ensuing four-game series.

That certainly looks to be the case if the opener is any indication with the team running up the scoreboard in a 13-0 victory.

And you can rest assured there’s more where that firepower came from with the Dodgers averaging 5.26 runs per game on the road. They conquered Colorado’s house of horrors, and they’re certainly capable of doing it again as long as their offense is rolling. But it wasn’t just the run-scoring for the Dodgers on Thursday.

It was their defense as well.

One way to clip the Rockies’ wings at home is to shut them down at the plate. They tend to run into trouble without the big bats to save them. That’ll be Dodgers starting pitcher Julio Urias’ responsibility on Friday. The 25-year-old lefty is throwing a 2.72 ERA with a 9-6 record on the season. His ability to avoid a road meltdown could mean the difference between winning and bad déjà vu for the Dodgers in Colorado.
