The San Antonio Spurs play host to the Los Angeles Clippers at the AT&T Center on Friday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in a major slump as they’ve lost nine of their last 11 games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting torched by the Jazz in a 126-103 road loss on Wednesday. Norman Powell led the team in scoring with 30 points on nine of 15 shooting, Ivica Zubac added 15 points with 12 rebounds and two blocks while Nicolas Batum chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Clippers shot just 40 percent from the field and 15 of 34 from the 3-point line but they didn’t come out looking to play defense and were always fighting an uphill battle after leaking 68 points in the first half. Marcus Morris had a rough night as he shot just three of 14 from the field, Terance Mann scored just two points while Reggie Jackson was the only bench player in double-digits as he finished with 11 points.
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have been in a real slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 10 games overall, but they will be hoping to build some momentum after taking down the Nets in a 106-98 home win on Tuesday. Keldon Johnson led the team with 36 points, 11 rebounds and four steals, Jeremy Sochan added 16 points while Tre Jones chipped in with 13 points and five assists. As a team, the Spurs shot just 38 percent from the field and seven of 34 from the 3-point line, but this win was all about their defense as they set the tone by holding the Nets to just 15 points in the first quarter, before they put the clamps on again in the third quarter, holding the Nets to just 17 points to lead by as many as 14 points.
