Los Angeles Chargers at Jacksonville Jaguars – 1/14/23 NFL Picks and Prediction

The Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars face off on Saturday in an NFL Wild Card showdown at TIAA Bank Field. When these two teams faced off on September 25th it was the Jaguars that secured the 38-10 victory.

The Chargers come into this game with a 10-7 record and they have gone 11-5-1 against the spread. The Chargers biggest issue as of late has been inconsistency and they are coming off a loss in the last game. The defense gave up 31 points to the Broncos and that led to the defeat. Justin Herbert completed 25 of his 37 passes 273 yards and two touchdowns. Austin Ekeler didn’t have a strong game, and they need more production out of him here. The Chargers are averaging 23 points while their defense is giving up 22.6 points per game. One big issue with not resting the starters is that they did suffer some injuries. Mike Willams suffered a back injury and it’s unclear if he’s going to be able to go in this game.

On the other side of this matchup is the Jaguars who sit with a 9-8 record and they have gone 8-8-1 against the spread. In the last game against the Tennessee Titans, the Jaguars only scored 20 points, but it was enough to win by four points. Trevor Lawrence completed 20 of his 32 passes for 212 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions. Christian Kirk finished with six catches for 99 yards and a touchdown. Jacksonville is averaging 23.8 points while their defense is giving up 20.6 points per game. In this game, it’s going to need to be the defense that steps up here. On the season Lawrence has thrown for 4,113 yards, 25 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Lawrence needs a big game and he needs to play better than he did in the last game against the Titans.
