Los Angeles Angels vs. Seattle Mariners Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-5-2022

Los Angeles Angels (44-61) vs. Seattle Mariners (57-49)

The Los Angeles Angels are traveling north to meet their divisional rivals Seattle Mariners in what will be the opening of a four-game series. This one will take place at T-Mobile Park on Friday, August 5. Seattle is in a way better form recently and is looking to stay in the wildcard race, while Los Angeles can already turn to the next season.

These AL foes have met eight times this season, and the Angels lead the series 5-3. The Mariners are firm -200 favorites in this game, while the total is set at 6.5 runs.

The Los Angeles Angels opened a three-game home series against the divisional rivals Oakland Athletics with a win, but lost the next two and now will hit the road for seven games. They will face the Mariners and Athletics in that stretch, after which the Angels will get back home to play Minnesota and Seattle.

The Angels did lose 8-7 to the A’s, but it was one of the best offensive performances of the second half. Los Angeles scored a run in seven of nine runs, and you won’t believe it, each of those runs was a solo home run! Shohei Ohtani led the bunch with a pair of homers, while Kurt Suzuki, Taylor Ward, Jo Adell, Jared Walsh, and Mickey Moniak (first hit in the majors) all hit homers. Janson Junk (1-1) suffered a loss after surrendering six runs on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks in only 2.1 innings.

Patrick Sandoval (3-7) will start on the mound for the 18th time this year when the Angels face the Mariners on Friday. The 25-year-old left-hander owns a 3.61 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and a 97/41 K/BB ratio over 89.2 innings of work. Sandoval started twice against Seattle this season and was fantastic, registering a marvelous 1.64 ERA in 11.0 innings.
