Los Angeles Angels vs. New York Yankees Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 4-18-2023

The Los Angeles Angels (7-8, 6-9 RL, 6-8-1 O/U) meet with the New York Yankees (10-6, 10-6 RL, 6-10 O/U) in the opening bout of a three-game series on Tuesday night. The Angels will send veteran Jose Suarez to the mound. The Yankees give the nod to Clarke Schmidt. The Yankees went 4-2 against the Angels last season.

Jose Suarez will make his third start of the season on Tuesday. Suarez has not been able to find a groove. He squandered seven runs in 4.1 innings against the Mariners in his season debut and wasn’t better last time out, giving up four runs on 10 hits in four innings against the Nationals, leading to a no-decision. The veteran was one of the Angels' most reliable pitchers last season, recording a 3.96 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP accompanied by an 8-8 record. He limited the Yankees to only two runs in six innings last season and is 2-1 with a 5.21 ERA in 19 career innings.

The Halos continue their road trip in the Bronx. They were dealt an ugly series loss by the Red Sox on the weekend to dip to 5-5 on the road. The pitching struggled in Saturday’s rough 9-7 loss and could not find any offense in a 2-1 defeat on Sunday. The Angels have lost two of their last three series.

Hunter Renfroe has been one of the Angels' most dangerous hitters recently, collecting a remarkable 13 RBIs in his last nine games. The veteran slugger now has four dingers with 15 RBIs and a stellar .895 OPS on the year. Renfroe only hit .167 with two RBIs in three games against the Yankees last season.

LA has looked good at the dish, averaging 5.06 runs, ranking them eighth. The pitching staff has amassed a 3.71 team ERA, good for eighth in the big leagues.
