The season trudges on for two also rans in the American League as the Minnesota Twins host the LA Angels in the final game of a three game series Sunday. The Twins are third in the AL Central while the Angels are third in the AL West — and both are well out of playoff contention. First pitch is at 2:10 p.m. ET at Target Field in Minneapolis.
It has been yet another disappointing season for the Angels, but they can get some positive momentum with a good run down the stretch. They have a very favorable schedule the rest of the way with games against only the A's and Rangers down the stretch, the two worst teams in their division. Shohei Ohtani leads the Angels batting .271 with 34 home runs and 90 RBI while Mike Trout is hitting .273 with 36 home runs and 74 RBI. They are 25th in runs per game and 11th in home runs.

The Angels won the series opener 4-2. They will start Jose Suarez on Sunday. Suarez, a left hander, is 6-8 on the season with an ERA of 4.11 in 20 appearances overall, including 18 starts. He has 91 strikeouts and 32 walks in 96.1 innings pitched. Suarez got pounded for 5 runs in 5 innings in his last start against the Mariners — a 9-1 loss. The Angels have a team ERA of 3.86, which is 12th in the league. The bullpen has an ERA of 4.01, which ranks 17th in the majors.
