Longest Active MLB Postseason Droughts

Every team in Major League Baseball is hoping to win the World Series at the end of the season, but some franchises have been more successful in that goal than others.

As of the 2023 season, the longest active MLB postseason drought is shared by the Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels, who have each gone eight seasons without advancing to the playoffs.

The longest postseason drought in MLB history belongs to the St. Louis Browns, who went 41 seasons without making the playoffs between 1903 and 1944. The Browns folded in 1953 and relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, where they became the Baltimore Orioles.
