The LIU Sharks and Merrimack College Warriors face off on Wednesday in a college basketball showdown at Hammel Court. The Sharks are the eighth seed in the Northeast Conference while Merrimack is ranked 1st. These two teams faced off on Saturday and it was Merrimack that secured an 80-59 victory.
The LIU Sharks come into this game with a 3-25 record overall and they have gone 7-12 against the spread. In the last game against Merrimack, the offense only managed 59 points and that led to the 21 point defeat. LIU is averaging 66.4 points while their defense is giving up 79.6 points per game. The defense has been an issue, but even worse has been the offense. Marko Maletic is having a strong season averaging 15.9 points while shooting 43.2 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from behind the three point line.
Merrimack comes into this game with a 15-16 record overall and they have gone 14-15 against the spread. In the last game against LIU the offense scored 80 points and that led to the 21 point victory. Merrimack is averaging 61.3 points while their defense is giving up 61.8 points per game. The stats are a little skewed because of the way they struggled during non-conference play. Jordan Minor is averaging 17.4 points while shooting while shooting 51.9 percent from the field. Merrimack can't have too much confidence heading into this game.
