Las Vegas Raiders vs. Los Angeles Chargers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-11-2022

Las Vegas Raiders (0-0) vs. Los Angeles Chargers (0-0)

Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season brings plenty of intriguing matchups, including the AFC West showdown from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, so we have prepared the best Raiders vs. Chargers betting pick and odds. The Chargers open as 3-point favorites, while the Raiders are listed as +140 moneyline dogs with a total of 52.0 points.

Las Vegas and Los Angeles split their 2021 series. The Chargers beat the Raiders 28-14 as 3-point home favorites in Week 4, while Las Vegas outlasted Los Angeles 35-32 in overtime as a 3-point home dog in Week 18 to clinch its spot in the postseason and eliminate the Chargers from the playoff race.

The Las Vegas Raiders enter the 2022 season with a new face at their helm. After spending ten years as an offensive coordinator in New England, Josh McDaniels decided it was time for a new challenge. McDaniels, who coached the Denver Broncos in 2009 and 2010, is one of the greatest offensive minds in football, so the Raiders’ fans hope he’ll bring success to Las Vegas.

“It’s 12 years since I left head coaching the first time, and sometimes you hear people say that they took some time and they tried to figure things out,” McDaniels said. “To each person, that means different things. For me, what I was trying to get done was, let me really stop and self-re flect on, what did I do that was clearly wrong? It’s humbling. You have to really drop your ego and say to yourself, ‘Man, I stunk at that. That was a really bad decision. It was crazy and I was young and everything else.”

The Raiders acquired Davante Adams in the offseason, and the former Packer will be a great reinforcement for Las Vegas’ offense. The 29-year-old wideout has been unstoppable over the last two years, tallying 2,927 yards and 29 touchdowns on 238 receptions in 30 appearances. Adams played alongside Derek Carr at Fresno State, so this duo should be ready to make fireworks right off the bat.

Carr threw for 4,804 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions in 2021. The Raiders ranked 18th in the NFL in scoring offense (22.0 PPG) and 26th in scoring defense (25.8). Chandler Jones arrived from Arizona in the offseason to boost the Raiders’ leaky defense, and the four-time Pro-Bowl defensive end should make an imme diate impact.
