A pair of teams from the Atlantic 10 meet on the hardwood in the nation’s capital in a conference matchup looking to earn a victory. The La Salle Explorers are on the road as they make the short trek to take on the George Washington Colonials Saturday evening. La Salle was clubbed 91-74 at home by Duquesne in their previous contest Wednesday night, failing to cover the line as a 2.5-point underdog. George Washington knocked off Rhode Island 89-80 in overtime on the road in their previous game Wednesday night, winning outright as a 2.5-point underdog. In the all-time series between the teams, the Colonials hold a 25-19 edge but it was the Explorers picking up a 75-64 win at home in the first meeting this season February 1.

La Salle dropped their second straight after a five-game win streak as they were knocked off by Duquesne at home. The Explorers fell to 13-15 overall and stand tied for eighth in conference play with a 7-8 record heading into this game. Against Duquesne, La Salle trailed 12-2 less than six minutes into the game, rallied to lead by a pair with under five minutes to play in the first half, and trailed by three at intermission. After scoring the opening basket of the second half, the Explorers gave up a 10-0 run to trail 51-40 and never got closer than three the rest of the way. La Salle shot 40.7% from the field, including nine of 23 from three-point range, but allowed Duquesne to shoot 55.6% from the floor. Josh Nickelberry led the Explorers with 28 points off the bench in the loss.

The Explorers put up an average of 69.6 points per game on the season, putting them 229th in scoring offense this season. La Salle grabs 35.5 rebounds per contest while handing out 12.2 assists per game. The Explorers have been below average defensively, coming in 252nd in scoring defense by allowing 72.4 points per contest. Khalil Brantley leads the Explorers in scoring as he averages 14 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. Josh Nickelberry (11.3 points, 2.8 rebounds) is the only other player scoring in double figures this season. Foussenyi Drame, Jhamir Brickus, Anwar Gill, Hassan Drame, Daeshon Shepard, Rokas Jocius, Mamadou Doucore and Andres Marrero each will be looked at to contribute this season.
