Kentucky at Tennessee – 1/14/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Kentucky Wildcats and Tennessee Volunteers face off on Saturday in a college basketball showdown at Thompson-Boling Arena. When these two teams faced off in March it was Tennessee that secured the 69-62 victory.

Kentucky has been nothing but a major disappointment this season. Kentucky currently sits with a 10-6 record overall and in the last game they had another bad loss against South Carlina. They gave up 42 points in the first half and that was the difference as they were defeated by three points. Kentucky is averaging 76.3 points while their defense is giving up 67.5 points per game. Oscar Tshiebwe has been the top player averaging 16 points while shooting 58.4 percent from the field. This is basically a must-win game at this point of the season. Jacob Toppin is dealing with a shoulder injury and is questionable for this game.

On the other side of this matchup is Tennessee who sits with a 14-2 record and they are coming off another big victory in the last game. Tennessee scored 77 points against Vanderbilt and that was enough to win by nine points. Julian Phillips and Santiago Vescovi both had strong games finishing with 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists. The Volunteers are averaging 75.5 points while their defense is giving up 53.4 points per game. The defense is ranked second in the league. Vescovi on the season is averaging 12.9 points while shooting 40.5 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from behind the three point line.
