Kent State reached the championship game after upending New Mexico State 73-63 on Wednesday night. The Golden Flashes were led by Malique Jacobs, who scored 17 points on 8-of-16 shooting. Kent State shot 47% from the field overall and just 28% from 3pt range. Jacobs was helped out by Sincere Carry, who had 15 points and Voncameron Davis, who had 12 points off the bench.

The Golden Flashes have been one of the better defensive teams in the country thus far, ranked 43rd in defensive efficiency and 74th in points allowed per game. That was on display on Wednesday night as they held New Mexico State to just 40% shooting from the field and just 23.5% from 3pt range. That last number is all the more impressive considering that the Aggies came into the game as the 10th best 3pt shooting team in the country.
