Kent State vs. Oklahoma Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-10-2022

The Oklahoma Sooners (1-0) will host the Kent State Golden Flashes (0-1) on Saturday in what looks to be a lopsided non-conference matchup. These two programs have never met before.

The Golden State Flashes went 7-7 last season, ending the season with a 52-38 loss in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl to Wyoming. Kent State only brings back four starters on offense and six on defense but was predicted to finish second in the MAC East Division in the media preseason poll. The offense lost last year's quarterback Dustin Crum (3,238 yards, 20 TD, 6 INT in 2021), but welcomed back their top running back Marquez Cooper (1,205 yards, 5.0 AVG, 11 TD in 2021) and receiver Dante Cephas (82 catches, 1,240 yards, 9 TD).

The Kent State Golden Flashes opened up the season with a 45-20 loss to the Washington Huskies as a 23.5-point underdog. The first half was a high-scoring affair, with Kent State trailing 31-13 at halftime.

The Huskies outgained the Golden Flashes 525 to 340 in total yardage. Collin Schlee went 12 for 24 with 178 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions and rushed for 47 yards.
