Kansas vs. West Virginia Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-10-2022

Kansas will be looking for its first-ever win at West Virginia when the teams square off in Morgantown on Saturday afternoon. The Jayhawks, who have never been within two touchdowns of the Mountaineers on the road, are coming off a 56-10 win over Tennessee Tech. West Virginia is coming off a disappointing 38-31 loss at then-No. 17 Pittsburgh last Thursday.

Kansas has faced West Virginia in every season since the Mountaineers joined the Big 12 in 2012. The Jayhawks are 1-10 in the all-time series with West Virginia, including an 0-6 mark on the road. They have not started the season with a 2-0 record since 2011 and have not won their conference opener since 2009. Head coach Lance Leipold got off to a strong start last week, leading his team to a 56-10 win over Tennessee Tech. Running back Devin Neal led the team with 108 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries, becoming the first player nationally to have more than 105 yards and two scores on four touches or less since 2016.

Neal was one of several players who had a big day on the ground for Kansas, which rushed for 297 yards on 30 carries, averaging nearly 10 yards per carry. The Jayhawks are facing a West Virginia defense that allowed just 76 rushing yards against Pitt last week. Defensive end Dante Stills was one of four players to record six tackles against the Panthers. He added 1.5 sacks and two tackles for a loss, including a forced fumble. Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels threw for 189 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee Tech, completing 15 of 18 passes. He also added 23 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.
