Salvador Perez hit a big three-run homer in the eighth that tied the score and the 1-5 hitters in the lineup went a combined 6-18 with five runs scored and five RBI. The Royals had scored seven runs combined in the previous four games and are dead last with a .187 batting average.

The pitching staff has been solid, posting a 3.78 ERA, 11th overall. The bullpen has a 3.90 ERA, and they were very impressive on Saturday as three relievers combined to toss three scoreless innings. Kris Bubic will get the start. The lefty allowed two runs in five innings in his first start and is coming off a season where he struggled, going 3-13 with a 5.58 ERA.
