The Kansas City Royals hit the road after a respectable 5-5 homestand, respectable considering the team had only won one of their first 12 games at home. The Royals ended the homestand strong with wins in four of the final five games at Kaufman Stadium. On Friday night, the Royals dropped the opener of the road trip 5-1 to the Brewers. On Saturday night, Greinke gave the Royals a chance with five solid innings and just two earned runs. The Royals briefly held a 3-2 lead before the Brewers tied it in the sixth and won the game with walk-off sacrifice fly in the 9th.

The Royals will give the ball to righty Jordan Lyles in the third and final game of the series. Lyles is winless on the season at 0-6 with an ERA of 6.20 in eight starts. Lyles has allowed 49 hits in 48.1 innings of work this season. He is 0-2 with an 8.27 ERA on the road this season in three starts, allowing 19 hits in 16.1 innings of work including five home runs. Lyles has a hard-hit percentage of 36.6 this season, right near the league average. He also has a strikeout percentage of just 17%, below the league average.
