The AL Central champion Cleveland Guardians begin a final 6 game series with the Kansas City Royals on Friday. The Guardians wrapped up the division title with strong play down the stretch, now they have 6 game at home against the lowly Royals to celebrate and get ready for the playoffs. The Guardians lead the season series 8-5. First pitch Friday is at 7:10 p.m. ET at Progressive Field.
The Kansas City Royals are coming off a series where they were swept by their AL Central Division rivals, the Detroit Tigers. They now come into this series with a record of 63-93, which puts them one half game behind the 63-92 Tigers, who have inexplicably won 6 in a row and 8 of their last 10 games. If they don't want to finish the year last in the division, the Royals had better win a few games in the final week of the season.

On Thursday afternoon, the Royals lost to the Tigers 10-3. The weak hitting Tigers lit up starter Jonathan Heasley for 4 earned runs on 4.2 innings and the bullpen didn't do much better. Michael Taylor and Vinnie Pasquantino each had 2 hits to lead the Royals. On Friday against Cleveland, their ace Brady Singer takes the mound. Singer is 10-4 on the season with an ERA of 2.99.
