Kansas City Royals vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-31-2022

The Chicago White Sox (63-66) will host the Kansas City Royals (5e-77) in the second game of a three game series. These two teams are very familiar with each other, with the Royals taking 10 of the first 17 head-to-head games this season. The Royals got the 9-7 upset victory as a +115 underdog on Tuesday, which was also one of my premium picks.

On Wednesday, the Royals will start Kris Bubic (2-9, 5.62 ERA). He is 1-4 with a 5.21 ERA in 10 road starts. In seven career games against the White Sox, Bubic has a 2.72 ERA, but a 0-3 record. The Royals did, however beat the White Sox 8-3 when Bubic faced them on August 10, as he allowed three runs but just one earned in 5.2 innings.

Kansas City is fourth in the AL Central, just 2.5 games ahead of last place Detroit. An offense that has struggled for a good portion of the season has been alive lately, averaging 4.9 runs per game over their last 11 games. Unfortunately, the pitching has struggled, with the club allowing 5.6 runs over its last 11 games. Tuesday's contest was another high-scoring affair with the Royals hitting four home runs, with two coming off the bat of rookie Nick Pratto who now has six on the year in 37 games. Pratto went 4 for 5 overall, with three runs scored and three RBI for the game.
