In a fantastic three-hole playoff, Justin Thomas turned aside Will Zalatoris to win the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma last year. He returns to the field at this year's PGA Championship in the hopes of grabbing a third major win and a third PGA Championship win at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. The tournament tees off on Thursday, May 18.
Thomas started the final round of 2022 seven shots adrift of Mito Pereira, but he found his groove under brutal wind-swept conditions. His -3 67 on Sunday was tied for the low round of the 78 players that started the final round, and a tragic double bogey from Pereira on the 18th hole saw the Chilean not even make the playoff.
It was the second major win and the second PGA TOUR win for Thomas, who took home the Wanamaker Trophy at Quail Hollow in 2017, finishing -8 with a two-shot lead over several runners-up.
Thomas' top finishes in the other three majors are as follows: 4th in the Masters (2020), 11th in the Open Championship (2019), and 8th in the U.S. Open (2020).
