Jalen Hurts now third betting favorite on 2022 NFL MVP odds, Eagles only behind Buccaneers to win NFC

This was considered to be a make-or-break season for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. It's his third year after promising but inconsistent performances in his first two, and he isn't eligible for a fifth-year rookie option as a 2020 second-round pick. So far so good. Following Monday night's rout of the Minnesota Vikings, Hurts has jumped into third-favorite role at Caesars Sportsbook to win MVP, and Philadelphia is now the +500 second favorite to win the NFC.

Hurts entered Monday at +1400 to win MVP and dropped to +800 by halftime, which is where he currently stands behind Buffalo's Josh Allen (+300) and Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes (+450). Hurts finished 26-for-31 passing (and accuracy is usually his issue) for 333 yards, a touchdown and a pick. He's the best running QB in the league outside of Lamar Jackson and had 11 carries for 57 yards and two TDs.

Until Monday night, no NFL player had had at least 251 passing yards, one TD pass, 50 rushing yards and two TD runs in a game since the second week of the 2020 season. Hurts reached those figures in the first half. He became the second Eagle in the Super Bowl era with 300 passing yards and two rushing TDs in a game. He joined Michael Vick, who did it on Monday Night Football in 2010 against Washington.

Finally, Hurts became the first player in NFL history to have an 80-plus completion percentage, 300-plus passing yards and two rushing TDs in a single game. Since the start of last season, Hurts has five games with multiple rushing touchdowns. That's tied for the most in the NFL in that span, regardless of position.
