Iowa will try to essentially clinch a spot in the NCAA Tournament when it travels to No. 15 Indiana on Tuesday night for a Big Ten battle. The Hawkeyes erased a big deficit in their overtime win against Michigan State on Saturday, leaving them as a No. 9 seed in the latest projections from ESPN’s Joe Lunardi. Indiana bounced back from a loss to the Spartans by taking down Purdue for the second time this season.
Iowa is coming off one of the most improbable wins of any team in college basketball this season, erasing a 13-point deficit with 2:03 remaining in the game. The Hawkeyes also trailed by 11 points with 1:34 to go, rallying to force overtime and eventually win. They hit six 3-pointers in the final 90 seconds, eventually picking up a 112-106 win. Kris Murray poured in 26 points, Tony Perkins had 24 points and Payton Sandfort added 22 for Iowa’s balanced scoring attack. The Hawkeyes improved to 18-11 (10-8 Big Ten) overall this season, putting them on the right side of the NCAA Tournament bubble with a little bit of room to spare in most projections.

They could certainly use a win on Tuesday night though, as that would almost certainly clinch a spot in the Big Dance. Iowa wraps up its regular season with a home game against Nebraska on Sunday afternoon. The Hawkeyes rely on an offense that ranks fifth in KenPom’s adjusted efficiency ratings and eighth in turnover rate. Their weakness has been from 3-point range (33.9), but they went 17 of 36 from the perimeter on Saturday. They are facing an Indiana defense that is No. 34 in field goal percentage and No. 281 in turnover rate. Murray, a junior forward, leads Iowa with 20.2 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
