Iowa State at Missouri – 1/28/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Iowa State Cyclones will cross the state line to face a familiar foe when they head down to Columbia to meet the Missouri Tigers in the Big 12/SEC Challenge on ESPN2. There’s a lot of history here, as Mizzou and Iowa State were former rivals in the Big 12, and faced off in one of college basketball's longest running series. Missouri holds the all-time series lead, 136-82, but ISU won last year’s meetings in Ames, 67-50.

Iowa State improved to 15-4 after beating Kansas State at home. The Cyclones and Wildcats traded leads throughout the contest, and ISU would pull away late with the four-point victory. Iowa State is scoring 71.1 points per game, while allowing 59.5 ppg and shooting 46.3% from the floor.

Iowa State has traded their last four games, but that is what comes with Big 12 basketball this season. This matchup may take the pressure from conference play off, and it’ll give them a chance to add another solid win to their growing resume. The Cyclones thrive on the defensive end, and they play as a collective unit offensively. Former SBU guard Jaren Holmes tied a season-high with 22 points last time out versus KState, and he leads ISU in scoring at 13.5 ppg. Fellow senior guard Gabe Kalscheur has picked things up since the start of Big 12 action, scoring 23 points in wins over Baylor and Kansas, and he’s up to 13.1 ppg.
