Iowa at Penn State – 1/1/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Iowa Hawkeyes and Penn State Nittany Lions face off on Sunday in a college basketball showdown at the Bryce Jordan Center. When these two teams faced off last January it was Penn State that secured the 90-86 in overtime. 

Iowa comes into this game with an 8-5 record and they have gone 7-6 against the spread. In the last game against Nebraska, Iowa only scored 50 points, and that led to the defeat. Two games ago against Eastern Illinois they were defeated 92-83. Iowa is averaging 81.2 points while their defense is giving up 70.5 points per game. The offense overall is ranked 28th in college basketball, but in the last game they really struggled. Kris Murray is averaging 19.1 points while shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 37.7 percent from behind the three point line. In this game the offense needs to get going. 

On the other side of this matchup is Penn State who sits with a 10-3 record overall and they have gone 7-5-1 against the spread. In the last game against Delaware State, Penn State’s defense only gave up 46 points, and that was enough to secure the 14 point victory. Seth Lundy finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Penn State is averaging 75.5 points while their defense is giving up 65 points. The defense is ranked 95th in college basketball. Guard Jalen Pickett is averaging 16.1 points while shooting 47 percent from the field and 28.3 percent from behind the three point line.
