The Iona Gaels will travel to Albuquerque and face the New Mexico Lobos this Sunday in non-conference action at The Pit on FS1.
Iona improved to 7-2 with a home win over Princeton on Tuesday. The Gaels trailed at the break, but came back in the second half to win their fifth game in a row. Iona scores 83.2 points per game, while allowing 70.1 ppg, and shooting 42.4% from the field.
Daniels Jenkins is enjoying life in New York this Fall. The former Pacific guard scored a career-high 31 points in the win over in-state foe Niagara, and he leads the Gaels in scoring (17.9) and assists (4.9). Walter Clayton Jr.’s second year leap has given Iona a dynamic pairing in the backcourt. Clayton has scored 20 or more in three of the last four games, and he’s averaging 16.4 ppg and 5.2 rpg. Third-year starter Nelly Junior Joseph leads Iona in rebounding (6.9), while scoring 12.7 ppg.
