Indianapolis Colts vs. New York Giants Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-1-2023

The Indianapolis Colts (4-10-1, 6-9 ATS, 5-10 O/U) battle the New York Giants (8-6-1, 11-4 ATS, 5-8 O/U) in an AFC bout on Sunday afternoon. The Colts were dealt a home loss against the Chargers on Monday night. The Giants lost a narrow road decision to the Vikings on Saturday. These foes last met in 2018 in a bout the Colts won 28-27.

The Indianapolis Colts enter this one looking to snap a five-game losing streak. They have also lost eight out of their last nine games in what's best classified as a disastrous season. Indianapolis allowed a 33-0 lead to slip away in an overtime road loss to the Vikings on the 17th and were marked small 3.5-point dogs in a 20-3 home loss against the Chargers on Monday night. Their last win occurred back on November 13th. The Colts have covered the spread in one out of their last three games.

Matt Ryan is having a poor season and was benched in favor of Nick Foles last week. Ryan has recorded 3057 passing yards and a 14:13 TD to INT ratio. Foles struggled last week, posting 143 passing yards and three interceptions in his first action of the season.

Jonathan Taylor is on the IR and will not play. That leaves Zack Moss and Deon Jackson. Moss was acquired from the Bills earlier this season and collected 65 yards last week. Moss has 268 rushing yards on 4.5 yards per carry. Michael Pittman Jr. made a solid 10 catches against the Vikings, followed by only four last week. The 25-year-old WR has eclipsed 100 receiving yards twice and has accrued 854 receiving yards on the season. The Indianapolis offense has scored 19 or fewer points in four out of its last five performances.

The Colts defense hasn’t been quite as bad as the offense but has still been exploited recently. They conceded 54 against Dallas and 39 points against the Vikings within this month. The unit was much better last week, conceding 314 total yards against the Chargers. The pass defense is 11th while the rush defense is 20th. Indianapolis is scoring an average of 16.5 points, ranking them 31st. They are allowing an average of 23.8 points, placing them 25th in the NFL.
