The Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots face off on Sunday in an NFL showdown at Gillette Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2021 it was the Colts that won 27-17.
The Colts come into this game with a 3-4-1 record overall and this game needs to be treated as a must win. In the last game against the Washington Commanders, they took the lead in the 4th quarter, but a late touchdown given up was the difference as they were defeated 17-16. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger completed 17 of his 23 passes for 201 yards but didn’t find the end zone. The Colts offense is averaging 16.1 points while their defense is giving up 19.6 points per game. Jonathan Taylor has continued to miss practice this week and it’s hard to imagine that he’s going to be playing in this game. The Colts need to find a way to get the offense going here.
On the other side of this matchup is the Patriots who sit with a 4-4 record overall and they are also coming off a disappointing loss. The Colts defense gave up 33 points to the Chicago Bears, and that led to 19 point defeat. Mac Jones only had six passes in the last game, but he is expected to start in this game. The Patriots offense overall is averaging 22.1 points while their defense is giving up 20.4 points per game. Jones has looked shaky at times this season and now he has the pressure of Baily Zappe sitting behind him on the bench. In this game, the Patriots need a good game from Jones.
