The rebuilding Indiana Pacers came into the season with an over/under preseason win total set at just 24.5 by BetMGM, which means there isn't much improvement expected from last season's 25-57 record. The Pacers opened this season with three home games, first by losing to the Wizards 114-107 and Spurs 137-134. Indiana got its first win over the Pistons 124-115, but then two nights later, dropped its first road game against the 76ers 120-106.

Indiana is seventh in the NBA averaging 117.8 ppg, but just 20th making 33.1% from three and 24th shooting 43.9% from the field. On defense, the Pacers are 27th allowing 127 ppg, 16th allowing 45.9% shooting from the floor, and 29th allowing 44.2% shooting on threes. Tyrese Haliburton leads the team with 24 ppg and is third in the NBA with 9.8 assists per game, followed by Bennedict Mauthrin, who was drafted sixth overall in the 2022 draft and is averaging 22.3 points through his first four career games.
