Indiana at Iowa – 1/5/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Iowa Hawkeyes and Indiana Hoosiers face off on Thursday in a college basketball showdown at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. When these two teams faced off last March it was Iowa that secured the 80-77 victory. 

Indiana comes into this game with a 10-3 record overall and they have gone 6-6-1 against the spread. In the last game against Kennesaw State, Indiana only gave up 55 points and they won by 14 points. Indiana is averaging 80.1 points while their defense is giving up 65.3 points per game. The offense is ranked 37th in the league, while the defense is ranked 94th in the league. Trayce Jackson-Davis has been the top player averaging 16.4 points while shooting 63.4 percent from the field. In this game if the defense is good, Indiana will be in good shape to secure the win. 

On the other side of this matchup is Iowa who sits with an 8-6 record overall and they have gone 7-7 against the spread. They had a ton of expectations heading into this game, but they have really struggled so far this season. In the last game Penn State, Iowa’s defense gave up 79 points. Iowa is averaging 81.1 points while their defense is giving up 71.4 points per game. The offense is ranked 26th in the league, but the defense has been a major issue. Patrick McCaffrey has stepped away from the team to deal with a mental health issue. McCaffrey is averaging 12.8 points. Kris Murray is averaging 20.4 points while shooting 50.3 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from behind the three point line.
