Illinois' (11-5) quest to compete for a second consecutive Big Ten regular season championship continues on Friday against a Michigan State (12-4) program that last held the distinction during the 2019-20 season. The Spartans come into Friday 4-1 in the conference, while the Fighting Illini have some ground to make up, at 2-3 in league play. This will be the only regular season meeting between the two programs in 2022-23, after Illinois won both meetings against the Spa rtans last season.
