We have a Missouri Valley Conference NCAA Men’s Basketball game on Wednesday night between the UIC Flames and the Evansville Purple Aces taking place at the Ford Center. The Flames are 11-18 (3-15) so far and are coming off a 74-73 home win on Sunday against the Valparaiso Beacons. The Flames are last in the conference and will have a tough time trying to make the NCAA Tournament outside of pulling off a major upset and winning the conference tournament. The Purple Aces are a terrible 5-24 (1-17) and are on a three-game losing streak after a 74-58 road loss against the Murray State Racers on Saturday. They also need to win the MVC Tournament if they want to continue their season.

The UIC Flames have been doing a decent job offensively this season as they are averaging 67.1 points while shooting 41.3 percent from the field. They have been passing the ball at a decent rate this season with 12.9 assists per game so far. Sophomore guard Jace Carter has led the way for the Flames as he is averaging 16.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.7 blocks, 1.7 steals, and 2.2 turnovers in 34.7 minutes per game.

Their defense has been doing decently well on this side of the floor as they are allowing 71.5 points per game up to this point. However, they are forcing mistakes at a good rate as they are averaging 4.8 blocks and 6.7 steals per game right now. If they can continue to improve offensively, they can be a team that people could overlook.
