The Idaho State Bengals and Utah Utes face off on Monday in a college basketball showdown Jon M. Huntsman Center. Utah has won the last six games they have played against Idaho State.
Utah feels like this can be a big season for their basketball team and they have won each of their first two games. In the first game against the LIU Sharks, Utah was able to secure an 89-49 victory. In the last game against Cal State Bakersfield the defense was elite giving up only 44 points and that led to the blowout victory. Gabe Madsen was the top player for Utah scoring 25 points and grabbing three rebounds. There were four different players that scored in double figures. Utah’s defense is giving up only 46 points per game which is 9th best in all of college basketball.
On the other side of this matchup is Idaho State who sit with a 1-1 record but they have gone 1-0 against the spread. In the first game against BYU, Idaho State was competitive, but they were defeated 60-56. In the last game against Westcliff, Idaho State’s offense was elite putting up 97 points and that led to the easy victory. The Bengals used a balanced attack and there were five different players that scored at least 11 points. Miguel Tomey had quite the game finishing with 19 points, five rebounds and three assists.
