Martin Stadium in Pullman, WA will play host to a week one matchup between the Idaho Vandals and the Washington State Cougars. Idaho finished the 2021 regular season three games below .500 after finishing the year with a 14 point win over in state rival Idaho State. Idaho did just enough on offense in the final game of the year totaling 218 yards to score 14 points in the first quarter leading to the win.
Quarterback Zach Borisch led the way for the Idaho offense completing five of nine passes for 88 yards, while running the ball 21 times for 64 yards and one score as well. Terez Traynor led all Idaho receivers with 58 yards on two receptions and Roshaun Johnson chipped in 29 yards rushing on 10 carries as well.
The Washington State Cougars finished 2021 season 1 game over .500 after a 3 point loss to Central Michigan in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl. Defensively Washington State struggled as Central Michigan totaled 356 yards to score 24 points in the game including 21 in the first half.
