After falling to the Cincinnati Bengals in last season’s AFC Championship game, the Kansas City Chiefs exacted some revenge on Sunday by knocking off the Bengals at home to advance to Super Bowl 57. This marks the third Super Bowl appearance in the young career of Patrick Mahomes, who is well on his way to becoming an all-time great at the quarterback position. Kansas City has established itself as the premier organization in football over the last 5 years and another Super Bowl ring would only solidify that status.

With the win over the Bengals, Kansas City will now be playing in its fifth Super Bowl in franchise history. This is also the third time in the last 4 seasons that Andy Reid, Mahomes and company are back on the NFL’s biggest stage. The last time the Chiefs played in a Super Bowl was in 2021 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which resulted in a 31-9 defeat. Kansas City previously played in Super Bowl 54 in February 2020, beating the 49ers thanks to a second-half comeback led by Mahomes. That game not only marked the Chiefs’ first Super Bowl title since 1970, but it was their first appearance as well.
