The Houston Cougars (1-1) host the Kansas Jayhawks (2-0) at John O’Quinn Field at TDECU Stadium on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
In their last outing, the Cougars were defeated by the Texas Tech Red Raiders 33-30. The Jayhawks’ last game was a 55-42 win over the West Virginia Mountaineers. Against the Red Raiders, Clayton Tune led the Cougars with 266 yards on 20-of-39 passing (51.3%) for one touchdown and one interception. Brandon Campbell took 16 carries for 80 yards (5.0 yards per carry) and one touchdown, while adding four receptions for 54 yards in the passing game. Nathaniel Dell hauled in seven receptions for 120 yards (averaging 17.1 per catch) against the Red Raiders. Jalon Daniels threw for 219 yards for the Jayhawks against the Mountaineers, going 18-for-29 (62.1%) with three touchdowns and no interceptions. He added 12 carries for 85 yards. In that matchup, Daniel Hishaw Jr. had a 10-carry, 63-yard game (6.3 yards per attempt) with two touchdowns. Luke Grimm picked up 66 yards through the air after six catches (on seven targets).
The Cougars (-10) are big favorites in their matchup with the Jayhawks. The over/under is set at 62.5 points.
