Houston vs. East Carolina (ECU) Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-19-2022

Houston will try to stay mathematically alive in the AAC title race when it travels to East Carolina on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars have won four of their last five games, including a 43-36 win against Temple last week. East Carolina is looking to bounce back from a difficult loss to Cincinnati.

Houston got off to a slow start to the season, losing three of its first five games. That rough stretch does not look quite as bad now, though, as two of those losses came in overtime Texas Tech and Tulane. Their other setback came against Kansas, which has wound up having one of its best seasons in recent years. Houston has bounced back by winning four of its last five games, with the lone loss coming in a 77-63 shootout against SMU two weeks ago. Quarterback Clayton Tune threw for 527 yards and rushed for another 111 yards in that wild outing.

The Cougars came from behind to beat Temple in a 43-36 final last week, as Tune hit Matthew Golden with a 44-yard touchdown pass with 40 seconds to play to cap the comeback. Tune finished with 318 total yards and four touchdowns, three of which came through the air. Running back Stacy Sneed rushed for 143 yards in the win, marking the second time in four weeks that he has rushed for at least 100 yards. Tune has been the star on offense though, throwing for 3,024 yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions this season. His top target has been junior wide receiver Nathaniel Dell, who has 85 receptions for 1,017 yards and 13 touchdowns.
