The upstart Houston Texans hit the road on Sunday to take on the red-hot Cincinnati Bengals in an AFC matchup. The Texans, led by rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, have been one of the surprise teams of the season with a record of 4-4 led by the first-year quarterback. The Bengals have returned to form with the return to health of their own quarterback, Joe Burrow, and have now won four straight games. The opening kick is scheduled for 1:00 PM EST.

The Houston Texans were hopeful of better days when they drafted quarterback C.J. Stroud with the second overall pick of the NFL Draft but they could not have envisioned that things would be clicking this quickly and this well. On Sunday, the Texans came back from a 37-33 deficit with under a minute to play to defeat the Tampa Bay Bucs 39-37. Stroud threw for five touchdowns and a rookie-record 470 yards in the game including the game-winner to wide receiver Tank Dell with just six seconds left in the game. The Texans' offense ran for just 53 yards in the game with starting running back Dameon Pierce out with an injury and had to play the second half of the game without kicker Kaʻimi Fairbairn, who left with a quad injury. Despite all of that, Stroud stood tall and led the Texans to their fourth win of the season.
“It was a gutsy performance from him,” Texans rookie head coach DeMeco Ryans said . “It wasn’t all clean but he gutted it out. He was tough in the pocket. Made some plays, made some big-time throws for us.”
The Texans come into this matchup with one of the NFL's best passing attacks. Overall, they are ranked 9th in total offense. The Texans are just 27th in rushing this season but an impressive fourth through the air thanks to Stroud. They are also 8th in converting on third down but just 24th in the NFL in converting red zone opportunities into touchdowns. The Texans are 18th in the NFL in total defense. They are 10th against the run and 24th against the pass. Houston has had trouble getting teams off the field, ranked 24th on third downs. They haven't been terribly successful getting to the quarterback, ranked 26th in the NFL. They are 14th in red zone defense this season.
The Texans are an impressive sixth in turnover differential this season. That number is made more impressive given the team's young roster. They are 26th in penalties this season, a number that falls more in line with their youth.
