Houston Texans at Los Angeles Rams 8/19/22 – NFL Preseason Picks & Predictions

On Friday, the Houston Texans visit SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California to play the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2 of the NFL preseason. Houston opened its preseason with a 17-13 victory over the New Orleans Saints. Davis Mills is expected to be the starting quarterback for Houston during the regular season but played only two series and did not pick up a first down.

Running back Dameon Pierce played well for the Texans, rushing five times for 49 yards including a 20-yard run during Houston's first touchdown drive. Jeff Driskel was the leading passer for Houston with 165 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Houston's defense held New Orleans to 270 yards of total offense and forced three Saints' turnovers.

Los Angeles opened its preseason schedule with a 29-22 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. The most exciting play for the Rams was a 60-yard touchdown pass by Bryce Perkins to wide receiver Lance McCutcheon, who finished the game with 4 receptions, 80 yards, two touchdowns and one two-point conversion. Tutu Atwell, who was drafted in the second round by Los Angeles, appeared in only ten plays for the Rams offense as coaches did not want to risk injury to one of their important receivers.

Bryce Perkins ended with 133 yards passing and two touchdowns for Los Angeles and also was the leading rusher with eight carries for 39 yards and one touchdown. As previously mentioned, McCutcheon was the leading receiver with 87 yards and a pair of touchdown receptions. The Los Angeles defense gave up a bit too much, allowing 312 yards to the Chargers.
