Houston will get another chance to beat Memphis when the teams meet on Friday night. The Rockets lost to the Grizzlies by five points on Wednesday, extending their losing streak to three games. Memphis has won seven of its last eight games, winning for the fourth straight time with its 130-125 win over Houston.
Houston has been among the worst teams in the NBA this season, losing 11 consecutive games from the beginning of February to the beginning of March. The Rockets won five of their next eight contests, beating San Antonio (twice), Boston, New Orleans and the Lakers. They have lost their three games since then, falling to the Pelicans, Warriors and Grizzlies to fall to 18-55 overall this season. Houston opened a five-game road trip with the first of two games in Memphis on Wednesday night. Jalen Green finished with 32 points for Houston in that game, while Kenyon Martin Jr. scored a career-high 31 points.

Kevin Porter had his second career triple-double, recording 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, while Alperen Sengun scored 25 for Houston. The Rockets made nine of their first 10 shots in the third quarter, drilling all five of their 3-pointers. They were within one possession with three minutes remaining before eventually covering the spread as 12-point underdogs. Forward Jae’Sean Tate missed his second straight game with left knee soreness and is questionable for this contest. Houston is in last place in the Western Conference standings, sitting one game back of San Antonio. The Rockets are No. 29 in the NBA in scoring (110.5) and are facing a Memphis defense that is No. 8 (112.3).
