Two of the NBA’s worst teams will square off on Saturday night when Houston travels to Detroit. The Rockets have lost 15 of their last 16 games and are coming off a 113-95 loss to Cleveland on Thursday. Detroit snapped its four-game losing streak with a 130-122 win at Brooklyn on Thursday.
Houston has been among the worst teams in the NBA since the beginning of the season, losing nine of its first 10 games and never recovering from it. The Rockets have only recorded two wins since mid-December, beating Chicago on Dec. 26 and Minnesota on Jan. 23. They have lost 15 of their last 16 games and 20 of their last 22. Their latest loss came in a 113-95 final against Cleveland on Thursday, as the Cavaliers jumped out to a 74-48 halftime lead. Houston was without guards Kevin Porter Jr. and Eric Gordon, along with forward Jae’Sean Tate. Their absence showed up in a big way, as Houston committed 22 turnovers which turned into 40 points for Detroit.

Porter Jr. (foot) is going to remain sidelined on Saturday, but Gordon and Tate are both going to return. Every player in Houston’s lineup on Thursday was 22 years old or younger, with second-year guard Josh Christopher making the first start of the season and the third of his career. He played a season-high 19 minutes and had seven points. Jalen Green, who reached the 40-point mark twice in his last four games, was held to six points and is going to be out on Saturday with a calf injury. Head coach Stephen Silas is going to miss this game to attend a memorial for his father, Paul. Houston’s offense ranks No. 29 in the NBA (109.4) and will be facing a Detroit defense that is No. 25 (117.1).
