The Houston Astros (108-56, 87-77 RL, 62-94-8 O/U) look to advance to the ALCS when they battle the Seattle Mariners (92-74, 84-80 RL, 77-79-8 O/U) in game three of the ALDS on Saturday afternoon. The Astros will send Lance McCullers Jr. to the hill. The Mariners will reply with rookie George Kirby. The Astros won the regular season series 12-7 and lead this series 2-0 after a 4-2 win on Thursday.

The Astros will have Lance McCullers Jr. on the mound in game three. McCullers Jr. only made eight starts this season, making his first outing in August as he worked his way back from a right forearm injury. He was dominant, recording a sharp 2.27 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP accompanied by a 4-2 record in 47.2 innings of work. The veteran right-hander did not pitch against Seattle this season and features outstanding numbers against the rivals, posting a marvelous 2.80 ERA and a 10-3 record in 103 career innings. McCullers Jr. has excelled in the playoffs in his career, flaunting a 2.40 ERA in 60 innings.

Jose Altuve can be counted on in the playoffs. The 32-year-old second baseman has accumulated 23 homers with 49 RBIs and an .880 OPS in 81 career games. Altuve collected eight RBIs and an .890 OPS against Seattle this season and is 0 for 8 in this series. I t was Yordan Alvarez delivering the deciding blow again in game two. The slugger hit a clutch walkoff home run in game one and delivered a two-run bomb in game two to propel the Astros to victory.

Well, the Astros are once again only one victory away from qualifying for the ALCS for the sixth consecutive season. The experience has been on full display. They rallied from late deficits in game one and game two. The bullpen ranked number one in the Major Leagues this season and has been nearly flawless, allowing just one run in 8.1 innings this series.

The Astros posted an average of 4.55 runs this season, ranking them eighth overall. The pitching staff amassed a 2.90 team ERA, placing them second in the big leagues.
