Hitter Prop Prediction 1: Matt Chapman 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-145)
Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Matt Chapman is only hitting .244 on the season with 15 home runs and 51 RBI across 541 plate appearances.
Chapman has really struggled recently with a .143 (3-21) September batting average with no home runs and only one RBI. He has now fallen short of recording 2+ Hits + Runs + RBI in a staggering 17 of his last 21 games.
New York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole is the front-runner for American League Cy Young with a 13-4 record, 2.81 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 208 strikeouts across 192 innings pitched.
Cole has absolutely dominated the Blue Jays this season with a combined 11.2 scoreless innings of work in two outings.
Chapman is a combined 1-9 in those games with a lone single and no other production. During his career, Chapman is only 5-33 (.152) with a single home run and 16 strikeouts against Cole.
Chapman actually prefers to hit on the road, but Yankee Stadium has been a house of horrors where he has gone 3-19 (.158) with no home runs and 8 strikeouts.
While the Yankees have nothing left to play for, but Cole is still looking to build up his Cy Young resume. Look for him to continue his dominance over Chapman and hold him under 1.5 HRR tonight in New York.
Hitter Prop Prediction 2: Ke’Bryan Hayes 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-135)
Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke ‘Bryan Hayes is batting .276 with 14 home runs and 60 RBI across 484 plate appearances during the 2023 campaign.
Over the last 30 days Hayes is hitting .343 with 6 home runs and 15 RBI across 106 plate appearances. He has now recorded 2+ Hits + Runs + RBI in 11 of his last 14 games.
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks is 6-7 with a 3.77 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 86 strikeouts across 126.2 innings of work.
Hendricks seems to be running out of gas as September has been his worst month with a 4.96 ERA and only 16.1 innings of work across three outings.
Hayes has gotten the better of Hendricks throughout his career, going 8-18 (.444) with two home runs, a double and 4 RBI. While Hayes clearly prefers home cooking, but Wrigley Field has acted as a second home where he has gone 7-21 (.333) with a home run.
The wind is blowing in at Wrigley tonight, but we don’t need to rely on the long ball as Hayes has 27 doubles and 7 triples on the season. Go over on Hayes HRR tonight in Chicago.
