Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve is batting .327 with 9 home runs, 29 RBI, 45 runs scored and 13 stolen bases in his 242 plate appearances since returning from injury in mid-May.
He has recorded 2+ Hits + Runs + RBI in 22 of his last 30 games and 35 of 54 games on the season for a 65% success rate. Boston Red Sox starting pitcher James Paxton is 7-3 with a 3.34 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 93 strikeouts across 86.1 innings pitched in 2023.
Altuve has feasted on Paxton throughout his career, going 11-34 (.324) with two home runs and three RBI. Being the Astros leadoff man is an enviable position as Altuve bats in front of sluggers like Alex Bregman and Yordan Alvarez.
Altuve and the Stros will be highly motivated to increase their Wild Card lead in this matchup as they face the Red Sox for the first time since the World Series in 2018.
He has been on fire, batting .420 in August with two home runs, 9 RBI and 15 runs scored across 79 plate appearances. Everything lines up perfectly for an Altuve over 1.5 HRR tonight in Houston.
