Hitter Prop Prediction 1: Ketel Marte Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-105)
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte has stellar numbers on the season with a .282 batting average, 18 home runs and 58 RBI across 466 plate appearances.
However, Marte has been slumping in August, going 3-28 (.107) with only one home run and two RBI. He has fallen short of 2+ Hits + Runs + RBI in 6 of his last 7 games.
San Diego Padres starting pitcher Blake Snell is 8-8 on the season but has a 2.61 ERA and 164 strikeouts across 124 innings of work. Snell has dominated Marte throughout his career, holding him to 2-23 (.087) with a lone home run and RBI.
He isn’t the only key Arizona slugger to struggle against Snell as Christian Walker is 1-18 (.056), Lourdes Gurriel Jr. 2-14 (.158) and Tommy Pham 1-6 (.167).
The Diamondbacks offense is in the midst of a brutal rough patch where they have scored only 15 runs across their current 8 game losing streak.
Marte has been a major part of that and today doesn’t feel like the day he will bust out of a slump due to the matchup. Take his under 1.5 HRR with plenty of confidence.
Hitter Prop Prediction 2: Nick Castellanos Over 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+125)
Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Nick Castellanos is enjoying his 2023 campaign with a .276 batting average, 20 home runs and 72 RBI across 481 plate appearances.
Castellanos has heated up along with the weather, batting .302 in August with 6 home runs and 12 RBI across 44 plate appearances. He has cleared this Hits + Runs + RBI line in 8 of his last 10 games despite the total being set at 2.5.
Newly acquired Minnesota twins starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel managed to hold an anemic Arizona Diamondbacks lineup to one run across five innings while scattering 8 hits.
However, we all know that Keuchel can’t possibly be trusted, and Castellanos has feasted on him going 7-18 (.389) with one home run and 4 RBI. Citizens Bank Park is known as a favorable hitting environment and tonight we have high temps with wind blowing out.
Keuchel will find it much more difficult to navigate a much more formidable lineup compared to that of slumping DBax squad.
Castellanos in particular must be licking his chops, making the +125 odds very attractive despite the total being set at 2.5.
