With the team still alive in the 2023 competition, many are wondering if capturing the national championship would be a first for Princeton. Here's what you need to know about the Tiger's March Madness history.

The Princeton men's basketball team has never won March Madness. The Tigers are one of 12 teams left in the 2023 tournament that has yet to win a National Championship.

The Tigers have made have made one appearance in the Final Four. That came during the 1965 NCAA Tournament in which Princeton fell to Michigan by a score of 93-76 in the semifinals.

Princeton's men's basketball team made the Elite 8 during t he 1965 NCAA Tournament, which remains the school's only appearance in the quarterfinal round. That squad was one of 23 competing for a title that year and it played in the East Region.

The Tigers were the last team standing in the East Region after they defeated Penn State (60-58), NC State (66-58) and Providence (109-69). As mentioned above, Princeton fell to Michigan in the Final Four.

Princeton has made the Sweet 16 on seven occasions. The full list of years in which the Tigers reached the Sweet 16 is as follows: 1952, 1955, 1961, 1964, 1965, 1967 and 2023.
