Kamala Harris has her running mate, naming Minnesota Governor Tim Walz her vice presidential candidate. Harris announced Walz's selection Tuesday.
Predictions market Polymarket gave Walz just a 16% chance of earning the vice presidential nod last week, but he quickly gained widespread support from Democrats and Harris. Walz earned the spot over Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Arizona politician (and former astronaut) Mark Kelly.
Walz, a veteran and retired teacher, has worked as Minnesota's Governor since 2019.
“I am proud to announce that I’ve asked Tim Walz to be my running mate,” Harris posted on X. “As a governor, a coach, a teacher, and a veteran, he’s delivered for working families like his. It’s great to have him on the team.”
