Group H Odds, Schedule & Predictions for 2022 World Cup (Uruguay Challenges Portugal for Top Spot)

The 2022 World Cup is here, which means soccer fans' attention will turn to Qatar for the next two months.

First up on the schedule is group stage action with eight groups of four teams each playing a round-robin to determine which two teams will advance to the knockout stage.

A ton of soccer fans will be focused on Group H action, which consists of Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea. We've also gone ahead and ranked them by FanDuel Sportsbook's World Cup odds for each team to win the group.

World Cup Group H Teams and Odds

  1. Portugal (-140)
  2. Uruguay (+200)
  3. Ghana (+1100)
  4. South Korea (+1200)

Th e odds paint a rather clear picture here. Portugal and Uruguay are expected to emerge from Group H with relative ease. The battle between those two squads in late November will likely determine the difference between first and second, though. Ghana and South Korea, on the other hand, have an uphill battle to climb.

World Cup Group H Prediction

Portugal is only one of five European squads to appear at every World Cup since 2002. It is also led by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo. While it's obvious why head coach Fernando Santos' team is favored here, there is reason to expect a disappointing outcome.

Ronaldo's mobility is lacking these days and leaves Portugal with less of a chance to come back when trailing. That bodes well for Uruguay's chances of finishing atop Group H instead. Uruguay's elite scoring duo of Darwin Nunez and Luis Suarez simply dominated in WC qualification matches.

I'll back Uruguay to get the job done via goal differential as Portugal stumbles a bit out of the gate.

South Korea poses little threat as its star player Son Heung-Kim may not even be able to play due to an eye injury. It also has won just 10 of its 34 World Cup matches. Ghana is dangerous, though. It's a team that averages 19 shots per game in World Cup play and has made the knockout stage before.

Group H Standings Prediction:

  1. Uruguay (2-1-0)
  2. Portugal (2-1-0)
  3. Ghana (1-0-2)
  4. South Korea (0-0-3)
